Denise Montecino is the Vice President of Human Resources and Safety for Goodwill Industries of South Central California where she has served for the last four years, first as the Human Resource Generalist and then as the Director of Human Resources. Denise has also served as a Board Member for Kern County Society of Human Resource Management (KC SHRM) for the past three years.

Prior to working for Goodwill, Denise worked for five years as the Human Resource Manager for Innovative Engineering Systems, Inc. (IES) and as a Divisional Administrator at the University of California, Santa Barbara in the Division of Mathematical, Life and Physical Sciences. Her love of law stems from the three years she spent working for the George Mason University School of Law as an Office Manager.

Denise holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and an Associate of Arts (AA) in Business Administration and Management from Axia College of the University of Phoenix. She also holds the Human Resource Management Certification in Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration from California State University, Bakersfield.

“Taking the Stigma Out of the Interactive Process”

Attendees will learn the importance of using an interactive process for dialoguing with employees, what triggers the interactive process, examples of areas where the interactive process will assist in accommodating employees, and what constitutes reasonable accommodation. Denise and Jerry will also discuss undue hardship factors and how the courts view this concept for employers, along with tips for conducting an effective meeting with an employee. Examples will be provided, as well as a take-away form for use in setting up interactive dialogue meetings.
